Cuomo's Running Mate Engages In Double-Dipping, While Cuomo Fights It

Andrew Cuomo built his legacy as state Attorney General on working to stop the practice of double-dipping, which, Cuomo has said is adding to New York's debt. But Cuomo's running mate, Bob Duffy, is taking part in the practice of collecting a salary and a state pension at the same time. The double-dipping is legal. Duffy says he has done nothing wrong in collecting a $128,000 salary as Rochester's Mayor and a $70,000 pension as the city's former police chief. Duffy says he did not accept pay raises as mayor and worked to lower his pension. But Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio calls Duffy the poster child for double-dipping. Cuomo has encouraged the state Legislature to end the practice for a state employee retiring and returning to the same position.
