School Releases More Information On Bus Driver Charged In Crash

More information is being released about the Canton school bus driver who is facing charges in connection with an accident that occurred last Friday in St. Lawrence County. According to the school, the driver in question, 68 year old Richard Stemples, underwent and passed random drug and alcohol tests administered to him in March and May of this year, and that he underwent and passed a mandatory comprehensive physical exam in February, during which he disclosed all of his prescription medications. Stemples is facing several charges of driving under the influence in connection with the crash, which sent one student to the hospital. Stemples has publicly denied he was under the influence at the time of the crash. He has been suspended from his job at the school.
