The proposed Jefferson County budget for 2011 has been released this morning. Taxpayers will once again see a decrease on their tax bills under the plan, albeit a small one. The budget decreases the tax rate by four cents per one thousand dollars of assessed value. That would set the tax rate at $6.50 per $1,000 of assessed value. This would also mark the seventh straight year the tax rate has decreased here in Jefferson County. The plans totals $230.4, an increase of $7.2 million or 3.2% from the current budget. The tax levy will stay the same under the proposal.
