A search for a missing hunter last night in the Town of Theresa ended with the man finding his way out of the woods thanks to his cell phone. State police were called to a report of a lost hunter on the Carpenter Road in the Town of Theresa at around 8 pm Sunday evening. Twenty three year old Mathew Hughes was hunting on state land when he became disoriented and was unable to find his way out of the woods due to darkness. Troopers were able to make cell phone contact with Hughes and GPS coordinates of his location were obtained. Two and a half hours later, Hughes was able to make his way out of the woods with the assistance of emergency vehicle lights as a guide. He was not hurt.
