Governor Andrew Cuomo has agreed to make changes to the NY Safe Act. On Friday it was announced that Cuomo will suspend plans to conduct background checks on those purchasing ammunition. The change will save the state money on developing a background check system, which was estimated to cost as much as $100 million dollars. This is the second time cuomo has made changes to the Safe Act, in 2013 revisions to the policy were made to exclude retired police offers from sum restrictions in the gun laws.
