More Cuts Possible At Fort Drum

A day after it was announced only 28 soliders would be cut from Fort Drum, the Watertown Daily Times reports that more troops may be cut. The reduction was announced on Thursday as part of a planned army effort to drop from 490,000 active soldiers to about 450,000. If the sequestration continues into the New Year the Army will continue to reduce its ranks to 420,000 or less. Congresswoman Elise M. Stefanik told the Watertown Daily Times that "there's an urgency to figure out a solution". U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said the contiuation of sequestration is hurtful to New York and the Country.
