New Smoke Detector Legislation Passed

State legislators recently passed legislation that would require smoke dectectors to have new specific safety features. The smoke dectectors sold in New York will have a minimum of 10 year batteries that cannot be removed. City Fire Chief Dale Herman told the Watertown Daily Times that in the past they have found some smoke dectectors in place but the batteries removed, so he feels this legislation is good idea.
